| Summary | Interventional radiology is a rapidly
growing area of medicine. Interventional radiologists are physicians
who specialize in minimally invasive, targeted treatments performed
using imaging guidance. Interventional radiology procedures are an
advance in medicine that replace open surgical procedures. They are
generally easier for the patient because they involve no large incisions,
less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times. |

| Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities: |
You can expect 50% IR in cases such as: Cerebral Arteriograms, Carotid Stenting, Aortic Stent Grafts, PTA, Stents, thrombolysis, biopsies & drainages, biliaries, GI/GU, Venous Access, Permacaths and Declots, stents, Venous PTA, Venograms, and IVC filters. There is expansion with various embolizations and an occasional varicoceles case, but it's not in high demand. Oncology is big, creating growth in RF ablations and the chemo work. The balance of your work is general radiology and you can avoid a few modalities if necessary, such as MSK or PET. TCall will be 1:6 and encompasses general and IR with your post call day off. The potential exists to shift call to IR only which will be approximately 1:4 once the 4th IR has started. Equipment is mostly state-of-the-art and PACS is in place at all facilities.
